One of the most important things to recognize is that architecture is much more momentous than the mere design and construction of a building. It is a responsibility to design and establish lifestyles, cities and communities. The combination of each built work in a city results in social background that has the potential to mold even our own culture.
The social context is perhaps one of the most important things in the field and undoubtedly it has been the Achilles’ heel of many architectural works. We need to understand human beings, communities, and their social and cultural background in order to propose a design that enhances a space, whether inside a room, a building or in a city that is just as functional and beneficial to human life. That is the purpose of our profession.
